Exactly How Does MagicJack Work Differently From Other Phone Services

How does Magic Jack Work? Very Well Thank You

There are still a lot of people asking the question - how does Magic Jack work? And then follow up with why so cheap. I think in a lot of people’s minds that something that offers unlimited local and long distance calling along with call waiting, voice mail, caller ID and directory assistance to name a few is one of those too good to be true things. I know that’s what I thought when I first heard about it. I am glad I gave it a try because I have been using it for my primary home phone since January 2008. So if your question is, does Magic Jack work? The answer is a resounding yes.

But How Does Magic Jack Work?

Magic Jack works different from any other VoIP providers in two main ways.

First, it is a VoIP device that plugs into your computers USB port and not your modem. The good thing about this is that it makes it totally portable and not limited to one computer. The only problem with this is that you must leave your computer running to receive calls.

Inside the Magic Jack dongle is a small circuit board with a read only memory chip. This dongle plugs into a USB port like a flash drive where software initiates the setup process. There is no software to load on your computer. After the setup of your account the soft phone loads and is displayed on your screen. This technology has simplified VoIP so that anyone has no problem using it. Now anyone with a computer and high speed broadband Internet connection can have a very cost effective VoIP phone service that works like a regular land line phone service.

Second, after paying the initial price of $39.95 for the device and first year of service all calls are free. Once a year you will renew your account for – (now new price) $29.95. The new price went from $19.95 to$ 29.95 due to upgrades and improvements. There are no monthly fees. There are per minute rates for international calling but that’s it.

Once a phone is connected to the Magic Jack then you can start making calls. The soft phone stores all of your contact information and phone numbers. It shows all incoming, outgoing and missed calls by number or name of one of your contacts. The MagicJack simply transfers an analog signal into a digital signal and sends it over the internet like and E-Mail. The Magic Jack price is not a mistake but a statement made by its inventor Dan Borislow that we can get good reliable phone service without a monthly phone bill.

Why Is The Magic Jack Price So Low?

Magic Jack can offer this type of internet phone service for the insanely low once a year price of under $29.95 where other VoIP service providers can’t, other providers have to lease the switching and gateways from other telecom companies needed to connect calls. Inventor of Magic Jack Dan Borislow founder of parent company YMax, a CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier) certified Telecom Company it’s self, and does not have to pay these fees. They make money by leasing these switches and gateways to other VoIP companies. They also may sell ads that will show up on the soft phone display in the future.
